The Navigators Group, Inc. continues its partnership with Kids in Crisis as a five-year title sponsor of the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon Race Weekend. The Navigators Group, Inc., an international specialty insurance holding company, has its corporate headquarters in Stamford, just a few blocks from the races' finish line. We are deeply grateful to Navigators for choosing to support the children and families we serve.

More than 800 athletes from throughout the tri-state area will be joined by thousands of spectators and individual and corporate volunteers on summer weekend when the sixth annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon, ninth annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Olympic Triathlon, third annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Sprint Triathlon and second annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5k and 10k take place Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12, 2016. This race weekend raises money for children struggling with abuse and neglect by supporting Kids in Crisis, Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock emergency shelter and crisis counseling center for infants, children, teens and their families.

The much-loved Kids Triathlon takes place on Saturday, June 11 at Cove Beach in Stamford. Open to children ages 6-13, the Kids Triathlon features courses and distances achievable for all athletes. The day is a fantastic family event promoting wellness and fun!

On Sunday, June 12, the Olympic race begins with a 1.5k (.9 mile) swim in Long Island Sound, segues into a 40k (24.8 mile) bike ride from the shore, through the heart of the downtown business district and up into scenic North Stamford, and finishes with a 10k (6.2 mile) run through the streets of downtown Stamford.

The Sprint race is comprised of a 0.8k (0.5 mile) swim, 22k (13.9 mile) bike, and 5.1k (3.2 mile) run, contested on shortened sections of the Olympic course. It is the perfect race for the beginner triathlete, or seasoned racer looking for a speedy time!

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5k and 10k run returns this year, and will again take place along the triathlons' respective run courses - and run as standalone road races with their very own start times!

All Sunday events end in Mill River Park, where spectators and athletes enjoy a lively street festival complete with music, refreshments, awards and entertainment.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Series has quickly become one of the area’s premier multi-level sporting events and, at the same time, one of the most fun-filled, family friendly experiences you’ll have! Join us for this memorable event and put your heart and sole(s) into helping area children in need!

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Series benefits
Kids in Crisis, Connecticut's only free, round-the-clock crisis counseling center and emergency shelter for children ages newborn to 17. Launched in 1978, Kids in Crisis has helped more than 132,000 families and children dealing with abuse, neglect, homelessness, mental health issues or extreme family conflict.

Kids in Crisis is known best for its two emergency shelters, where up to 20 children live each day. Struggling children can take advantage of a loving, therapeutic environment to help them heal physically and emotionally. While staying at Kids in Crisis, each child receives comprehensive care including ongoing individual and group therapy, on–site medical care at our TLC Health Center and educational support to ensure academic success.

This year, fundraising for the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Series is more critical than ever, as Kids in Crisis works to overcome a State budget cut that eliminated its $750,000 contract.
